For Her: What to Pack on Your Next Ski Trip

For Her: What to Pack on Your Next Ski Trip

A ski trip is supposed to be enjoyable. Suppose you’re celebrating a winter birthday with your girlfriends by hitting the slopes for the first time, enjoying the world-renowned spas at the resort, and doing other snow sports such as snow tubing and snowmobiling.

In that case, you’ll want to know what to expect so that you can pack accordingly. Whether you’ve got your itinerary planned or are planning to play it by ear, we’ve got you covered. Here are the essentials for every girl’s first time on the beautiful powdered slopes.

1. Winter casual attire for lounging

To be your most comfortable, when you’re not on the slopes, it’s best to stick with warm, casual clothing. Think warm tops such as thick sweaters, long sleeve tops and bodysuits that you can layer, hoodies, a cardigan to wrap yourself in when you’re in your room for extra warmth, and a warm jacket that you can wear when you step off of the resort for a night at a local restaurant or bar/lounge. As for bottoms, jeans are acceptable.

If you can layer them on top of leggings, it’s even better, so bring a few pairs of leggings in case you need that extra warmth. Leggings can also be worn after your day of skiing when you change out of your ski gear. When it comes to shoes, you’ll need a perfect pair of boots that you can wear with all of your outfits. Boots from Poppywells come in neutral colors, so you won’t need to pack more than one or two pairs. Be sure to pack plenty of thick socks to keep your feet warm in those boots.

Other articles of clothing you’ll want to bring with you are thermal or fleece pajamas, a pair of slippers, a few beanies, your undergarments, and even a swimsuit. If the resort has an indoor pool or if you plan on booking an appointment at the spa with the girls, they may have an indoor jacuzzi that you can enjoy, so you’ll want to make sure you have a bathing suit or two.

2. Ski attire

Businesses such as HWY 40 are making it more convenient to bring your ski gear by not packing them with you at all. Their ski equipment packages include skis, boots, and poles, and will deliver to you. They also have in-person fittings available so that you can find something you feel comfortable in from your hotel or resort room. By renting from them, you’ll only have to bring your goggles and a helmet.

Other ski gears you’ll need are a pair of waterproof ski pants and a waterproof ski jacket, a long-sleeve top, and warm bottoms to wear underneath, a couple of gloves, and a ski mask to shield your face from windburn. You’ll also want to wear double socks to keep your feet warm in those ski boots.

3. Other items

Items such as your lift passes, sunscreen, lip balm, and even headphones for your iPhone or iPod are all needed for a relaxing day of skiing. Because it’s easy to catch a cold when you’re playing in the snow all day, it is recommended that you bring your vitamins or supplements, such as Emergen-C packs that are loaded with vitamins, to help boost your immune system.

Don’t forget to bring your camera with charger and sim cards so that you can document what’s convinced to be one of the best trips you and your girls or significant other have ever taken together.
