Keys To Repair The Skin After Waxing

laser hair removal

After Waxing: We tell you all the care that your skin needs, whatever your hair removal method – blade, cream, electric machine, wax, or laser – so that you can calm and repair it.

Whichever method you choose and even if you do it with all the precautions in the world, hair removal is still aggression for the skin.

After using the blade, the wax, the electric machine, or the laser, the dermis is usually more dry, irritated, red, and even sore.

The skin will also be more sensitive, so if we expose it to the sun right away, spots could appear. Areas such as the face, groin, and armpits are usually the most sensitive and with which we need to be most careful.

Each hair removal technique requires specific post-depilatory care so that the skin does not suffer; it regenerates properly and is healthy and beautiful. We tell you.

1. If You Resort to Shaving

In this section, we include both the blade and the depilatory creams, since both cut the hair superficially. They are the fastest technique but also the least durable.

If you epilate with the blade, your skin will be more protected if you use gel or shaving foam to shave or use a knife with moisturizing agents. These products help it to glide better, removing hair more effectively and avoiding small cuts.

The depilatory creams are very comfortable but have chemicals that degrade hair keratin to undo and can be irritating. It is main not to exceed the application time to avoid damaging the skin.

After shaving, clean your skin with water to remove any remaining product. Dry gently, without rubbing, as the dermis will be very sensitive and thus avoid irritation.

Then it hydrates the skin very well. The blade, in addition to the hair, also removes dead cells from the surface, and this can be drier and more irritating, requiring extra hydration with cream or natural oils. Do it a pair of times a day.

2. If You Wax With Wax

By removing hair from the root, the pore remains open, so extreme care must be taken.

Follow the beauticians’ example: after the tug, gently press the epilated area with the palm of your hands to soothe the skin.
Use the post-waxing wipe that you will find in the wax container or a cotton ball soaked in micellar water to remove the remains.

It will be useful to refresh the shaved area with cold water to relieve discomfort and close the pores.

Then apply an aloe vera gel, almond oil, or shea buttercream to soothe possible irritations.
Do not wear tight clothing on the depilated area and do not do sports after waxing, as sweat can irritate sensitized skin.

Avoid the sun on shaved areas for two days after waxing, as the skin is sensitized, and UV rays can permanently darken it. Also, avoid peels and cosmetics with alcohol (colognes and deodorants).

3. If You Use an Electric Machine

This hair removal technique also rips out the bulb. By removing the hair one by one and by the roots, the skin can be somewhat sore and irritated, so running cold water over the sensitized area will relieve you.

Afterward, refresh and soften the skin using a moisturizing cream or oil that includes an active ingredient such as aloe vera, oatmeal, or chamomile, which will relieve discomfort due to its relaxing and soothing properties.

Remember to hydrate the depilated area at least twice a day.

4. If You Opt for Photo epilation

It is the most effective and long-lasting method, almost definitive if done correctly. However, both lasers and intense pulsed light (IPL) produce small lesions in the hair follicle as they destroy it.

After the sessions, the skin is somewhat sore and sensitized, so it must be given extra care based on a deep repair.

  • Apply aloe vera gel or argan oil, 3 times a day for 3-4 days afterward, or a non-comedogenic (non-clogging pore) moisturizer.
  • Do not sunbathe for 7 days afterward, and if you do, use a 50 waterproof sunscreen.
  • Avoid saunas, hot baths, and tight clothing.
  • Do not use makeup on photo epilated areas in 24 hours.

There is always a small risk of a laser burn, so it is important to put yourself in the hands of a qualified professional.

moisturizing cream

However, if this happens, you can apply cold cloths to relieve discomfort and a hydrocortisone cream 2 times a day for 4-5 days. And do not get the sun in the affected area.

5. Eliminate Ingrown Hairs

It often happens that on the legs or the groin, there are ingrown hairs under the skin that do not come out with waxing. They are formed because the hair, as it weakens, does not have the strength to come out and curls under the skin, creating a kind of dark pimple.

If you want to remove them, exfoliate the area twice a week with an exfoliating cream, a special sponge, or a horsehair glove and do not scratch with your nails or tweezers to open the skin because it can become infected.

Days before waxing, apply a warm compress to the area for 10 minutes to soften the skin. Next, put on a moisturizing cream that is quite nourishing by massaging.

If you’re prone to getting hairs under your skin, avoid waxing and electric waxing. The laser and pulsed light are the best solutions to permanently eliminate ingrown hair.

6. Get Delayed Hair Loss

There are products called hair growth retarders that destroy the roots, thus slowing down the appearance of new hair. They are applied immediately after hair removal with the plucking of the bulb (wax, electric machine, and laser). Some are 100% natural.

For best results, apply them with a massage several days in a row, as they do not irritate the skin. If used consistently, hair grows more slowly and finer.
